I Win The Nobel Prize And All I Got Was A Parking Space
I'm sure it is a slight exaggeration, but it is still amusing to read Shuji Nakamura's response on the benefits he got from UCSB after winning the physics Nobel Prize.

He's entitled to feel any way he wants about the matter, but it strikes me as more than a little sad that he considers not teaching to be a benefit or reward.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It may have been (I'm not one to judge) that teaching and reviewing basic concepts in the classroom was probably where he gained his insights into nature. His departure will be the students' loss.
