Can You Find The Current In This Circuit?

A father of a high-school freshman is puzzled by this assignment given to his daughter. Can you find Ix in that circuit, or is there something wrong in this picture?

He also asked what you would do if you were the teacher responsible for this.

  1. The diagram provided is not right. The reason being that current going through R1 is more than total input current. Well this circuit is not right, but on the other hand, if this was just a game of numbers, than the current Ix would have been 8A

  2. Kirchhoff's law says it would be -2A, but the circuit makes no sense.
